Head in the Clouds

Wings that reign in the sky
Over the lake where I ride
On my bike while I muse
About my past and future, too
Reminding me of the force
That guides me in the course
Of living day by day
While loved ones pass away.
Where are they? I like to think
They’re up there where we believe
Heaven opens its pearly gates
And only divine love awaits
Where all is joy and rest
While we, down here, endure this test.
Truth is, no one knows for certain
What goes on behind the curtain,
But keeping faith, the darkness quells
Until the bell tolls its death knell.
For now, I bask in the peace
Of feeling wings inside of me.
