“The journey that began alone in the garden and at home with young children led me to find my public voice, amplify it globally, and help others do the same. After more than 20 years of writing, consulting, speaking, organizing, and advocacy, I’ve learned the greatest difference we can make in the world happens at the level of community—through personal growth, participation, partnerships, and pioneering solutions.” —Anna M. Clark
From Living Green to Championing Sustainability
We are currently facing the Sixth Mass Extinction. The definition of a mass extinction is a 75% decline of animal populations within a geologically short period (under 2.8 million years). At our current rate of consumption, we’re experiencing catastrophic species loss within the span of a single lifetime. This is happening because we consume far beyond the earth’s ability to absorb the waste, pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions created through unsustainable consumption and production, and the incentives are broken for any single individual, group, industry, sector or country to fix it.
Tackling the existential threats of environmental degradation and climate change will take more than individual action. It will take advocates, entrepreneurs, business decision-makers, non-profit leaders, and public servants working together to promote sustainability while holding corporations and governments accountable. Joining this movement is a lifelong practice that becomes easier when you find your place in it. If you’re looking to deepen your impact and elevate your leadership, stay tuned for my upcoming book “Championing Sustainability” from CRC Press in 2027.
